  • (Flat Head) horizontally opposed four or six cylinder engines.

  • (Flat Head) A style of blind threaded insert having a head with a rectangular cross section.  Flat head inserts typically have relatively thick heads and therefore provide high levels of push-out strength.  For this style of part the head projects above the panel after installation.

Sheet metal screws have a pointed end and widely spaced threads. They're self-starting in thin sheet metal, but in thicker materials a drilled hole is recommended.

Stainless steels are used for their corrosion resistance, high-temperature strength, scaling resistance, and low-temperature toughness. These properties account for their extremely wide use in practically every industry. Austenitic Stainless Steels are alloys of iron and carbon that contain between 16% and 30% Chromium, a maximum of 0.15% carbon, along with Nickel (or Manganese), and other alloying elements. The chromium, which helps develop a passive surface oxide film, provides corrosion resistance in stainless steels. Austenitic Stainless Steels are designated by a 3 digit SAE Stainless Steel Grade beginning with the number 3 (e.g. 304, 316). Another common naming convention for Austenitic Stainless Steels are 18/8, 18/10, 18/0, etc. where the 18 refers to the % of Chromium and 8 to the % of Nickel contained in the material.

Flat head fasteners are designed to fit flush to the surface when used with countersunk holes. Length is measured from the top of the head. The Phillips drive style was originally designed so that the driver would slip out under extreme torque, preventing over-tightening and damage to the fastener or the material. Self-Drilling Points are excellent for use with sheet metal.

Baby Green Cheeks: Can we move now?

Baby Green Cheeks: Can we move now?

Almost all the babies (4 out of 5) in one shot. They were actually nice and still for me so I could take a picture. I think they were getting ready to nap.
You can see the one on the right just took a bath. They love baths!
Would you believe these were the same babies just hatched in February?

The 5 babies have been moved into their own cage now. It's filled with lots of things to climb, lots of toys, and flat areas which they love to sleep on. They have adjusted with the move very well. Daddy Gizmo has moved back in with Mommy Tweak and they come over and sit on top of the babies cage sometimes and the babies get all excited.
The babies are eating dry food and seeds for treats. They even take baths every other day.

This was when i got to go into a mangrove island that happened to be a heron rookery. This small clump of big red mangroves was absolutely FULL of herons. It was ridiculous. we waded in and managed to have a look at some active nests and some of the babies. There really isn't anything to the nests, it is just a bunch of sticks arranged together to make a flat sort of pile. It was really cool but there were some veryunhappy parents flapping about our heads.
